Rihanna's new video "Rehab"

After a great year for her, Rihanna's new single "Rehab" is causing quite a stir in the US, and is climbing the charts in South Africa as well. The video features Justin Timberlake as the love interest, even though he does not do any vocals in the song.

All American Rejects does Britney

All American Rejects does a cover of Britney Spears's comeback tune "Womaniser". "We can do it better" they say... I beg to differ.

This next generation CPU mouse brings a new take on selecting the icon on your screen. Hook up your i-Mac to your Plasma screen, take a seat on the couch, and for R1 600, u can work from there!

It has Wiimote-like features, and you can browse through your files just waving your hand to move the pointer!  Control the volume by moving your hand to the right or left, and skip the bad tracks with a flick of the wrist!

JT's New single: 'Follow my lead'

Mr. Timberlake is not releasing a new album, but his new single ‘Follow my lead’ debuted on MySpace Music. It features Esmee Denters, and proceeds will go to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

A spokesperson for Justin says he is writing and producing for Denters, Matt Morris and Brenda Radney; and not working on a solo record.

Chanel's killer heels

I came across these, um, interesting shoes by Chanel from their 2009 Cruise collection. It’s a satin platform sandal with a 9cm gun- shaped heel. They are already doing their rounds among the rich and famous, selling for $2, 200… around R22 000!

Madonna got slammed by Anti-gun protesters for wearing them to the premier of her new movie ‘Filth and Wisdom’, saying that she is promoting violence.

It just looks a little odd to be honest…

Tag Heuer has a Phone!!

Tag Heuer is known for their renowned range of luxury watches. The Link Chronograph, Formula 1 and Carrera are a few that most of us are familiar with, ranging from R8 000 to R100 000. And those are just part of the ‘standard’ range… They then released a range of sunglasses, very sporty, but still stylish. Now the latest addition to the Tag Heuer brand, is the Meridiist- an ‘avant garde communication instrument’ according to Tag Heuer . That’s what we call a cell phone.

But this is not any cell phone- for approximately R50 000 it should be able to make coffee as well, shouldn’t it? Well no.

It has a 2MP camera (like my R3 000 Samsung), and there’s no Wi-Fi or HSDPA…

There is however an OLED- screened clock at the top, and a 4.8cm sapphire crystal display on the front that’s apparently unscratchable. Oh, and its clad in crocodile leather.

Check out www.meridiist-phone.com if you are looking to buy!

Oh, the power of branding…

Post- Christmas Bargains...

Christmas is now over, and the Mega Sales are about to start! ‘All the stock has to go!’- you know the drill… But tell me, why would a R6 000 Digital camera be cheaper after the 26th of December? Could it be that the shops made such enormous profit margins by marking up the products with ridiculous amounts in the weeks before Christmas, that they now have to sell out below the regular price to keep the accounting firms out of their hair? Or are they just so good-hearted that they are giving us thanks for the bags of money they made in the last few weeks, by giving us these ‘great’ discounts?

Maybe this is all just to keep the balance in our ’I want more’ mindset. Most people are completely broke after the Christmas Season- with gifts for family, friends and colleagues; entertaining and  indulging in the most delicious treats we could lay our hands on! So when the retailers tell us that their products are ‘cheaper than ever‘, and that we ‘can’t possibly pass up the opportunity’ to buy these unnecessary bargains; but bargains none the less; we immediately set out to see what they have to offer. Whether we can afford it or not.

So go out, see what you can find in those messed up Discount Shelves! Who knows what treasure you will stumble upon… I know I will! Just think twice before splurging on a pale yellow milk jug you can give your aunt for next Christmas…

Happy shopping! ;)
